The Utah Wind Symphony is now in its 6th season and is proving to be a very important offering to Utah’s cultural, educational and fine arts community. This premiere ensemble is a wind symphony, reflecting the tradition of wind bands in America. Performing a wide variety of literature spanning from the early twentieth century to the present, the Utah Wind Symphony provides the State of Utah area music lovers with the unique opportunity to hear top-level performances of beloved old favorites as well as dazzling new works.

The Utah Wind Symphony is directed by one of Utah’s most gifted and respected educators and conductors, Scott Hagen and is comprised of professional musicians from throughout the Wasatch front.  The ensemble was formed in 2010 with the mission;

“To create a challenging musical venue for our musicians and a dynamic concert experience for our audiences”

Currently, the Utah Wind Symphony has begun to expand its audiences, including students, adults, educators and music lovers. Most importantly, the Utah Wind Symphony has expanded its mission statement to;

“To encourage musical growth and artistic awareness of the public and especially Utah’s youth by means of live performances, educational outreach, commissioned works and recordings”

Not only has Utah Wind Symphony created an exhilarating concert series including four masterworks performances, two chamber concerts and a holiday performance it has also established and sustained the Utah Wind Symphony Youth Ensemble. The Utah Wind Symphony is committed to maintaining the highest professional standard while increasing our educational outreach and engaging our audience.

In 2014 the Utah Wind Symphony was selected to perform at the prestigious Midwest International and and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago Illinois. The Utah Wind Symphony is the only adult group from the State of Utah to achieve such accolade. In 2016 the Utah Wind Symphony will record and release its first commercial disc titled “The Music of Maslanka, Volume 3”. Educational outreach efforts continue with an expanded program to put students side-by-side with the musicians, clinics and masterclasses.

The Utah Wind Symphony is eager to create partnerships to assist in supporting our musicians, inspiring our audience and sustaining the mission of our organization. Please see the contact information below if you are interested in exploring levels of support.
